As a branch of pure science, microbiology studies biology of microorganisms including bacteria, fungi, protozoa and algae, as well as viruses and smallest entities like those of prions. Biological processes associated with these microorganisms are considered as the major impact of earth sustainability.  Pathogenic processes, for instances, disease prevention and treatment are greatly contributed to the quality of human life.  On the other hand, fermentation always provides benefits in the production of agricultural, food and industrial products.   Biodegradation or biological treatment warrants environmental friendly on this planet.   Moreover, our microbiology is designed to meet with local and regional community contexts, as it can be seen from newly added courses like Halal in Food Microbiology and Sanitation, and Halal and Microbiological Safety.   Furthermore, microbial biotechnology is becoming the basis of modern biotechnology, as it is used as an important tools for improving production processes and products as well as quality research and analysis of environmental samples.  Included also are the diagnosis of bacterial, fungal and viral infections.
